Open a local file
- Save your current model.
- Choose Menu → Open local model… and select the file.
- Read any message describing skipped or unresolved content.
- Inspect views, types and relationships before saving the converted model.
Revelation and Revelation for Confluence expose local open. In Confluence, opening a file changes the editing session; Save to page writes it to the current diagram attachment.

Excel details
Sheet names are case-sensitive. The model sheet contains key/value rows; systems and interactions contain one record per row and may include custom-property columns. Layout geometry can be supplied in an optional layouts sheet. Additional sheets are ignored.
The reader uses cached formula results; it does not evaluate formulas. Legacy .xls, encrypted files, macros, charts and arbitrary workbook formatting are outside the supported format. Use the exported workbook as your starting template.
Multiple diagrams and workspace files
Supported text files can yield multiple views. A model has one notation: mixed-notation blocks may be left out. For Structurizr includes or workspace extension, select the workspace and required companion files together. A missing dependency is not automatically fetched from an arbitrary remote source.
Check conversion quality
Review the warning, compare the result with the source, and use the Health report. Some visual details and format-specific constructs have no equivalent. Preserve the original file and save the converted result under a new name. Imported Mermaid, PlantUML and DSL models save as Revelation JSON.
Size limits
The local-open backstop is 50 MB for ordinary files. XLSX also has archive-expansion, row and cell limits. A file that loads may still exceed the Drag & Drop layout's 300-system/400-interaction limit.
