Revelation documentation

Turn a question about your systems, processes or data into a diagram you can explore and share.

Start with something you want to explain: how a service works, where a process hands over to another team, or which systems a change will affect. Revelation helps you put that information into a model and choose the view that makes it clear.

A simple service, explained in three elements. Build this example in the first-diagram guide, then adapt it to your own work. This diagram is available in both apps. Download the example or select the diagram to view it at full size.

From your first diagram to a useful model

Choose the diagram that fits your question

Use C4 for software systems, ArchiMate for architecture across layers, BPMN Lite for responsibilities and handoffs, sequence diagrams for message order, ER for data relationships, or a flowchart for a procedure. The diagram chooser helps you decide where to begin.

Prefer to learn by trying?

Open a small model from the example library, rename an element and follow its connections. Once you are comfortable, try a university model and explore how several views can tell different parts of the same story.

Working on a Confluence page?

Use Revelation for Confluence to keep diagrams and catalogues alongside your team’s page content. These Revelation guides cover working with local files and GitHub; the Confluence guides show how to save models to a page.
